Over in Everquest 2, the second of January’s Heralds has began to set up their camp in Norrath. This one being the Herald of the Wintry Guardian. Located in the ice flows at the very North of Everfrost. The easiest way to get there is to travel to Everfrost using the Spire teleporter.

The Herald’s arrival is broadcast in the message of the day which reads, “A chill runs down your spine from a sudden burst of cold air, a new Avatar camp has emerged within Everfrost as the Masquerades of Divinity Celebrations continue!”
The progress is the same as with the previous Herald, where adventurers who are level 125+ are tasked with various quests to hasten the Avatar’s return. This time however, the quests have an icy theme rather than a watery theme.

The merchant again has the limited time purchase altar travel unlock available. This costs 1 million status points plus 10,000p 80g, 3s, 97c and is an account flag to enable all characters on an account to travel to the Herald’s camp using an altar, which is purchased separately.

Various weapons and charms can also be purchased from the merchant, with varying amounts of the Minted Celebration Tokens and also the Minted Masquerade Tokens. Interestingly, some items players are required to have defeated the contested Avatar and some items ask for the instanced version of an Avatar. We’ll know more once the first camps are completed and the Herald signals the Avatar’s arrival.

A new piece of appearance weapon has appeared on the merchant’s wares. The Trident of the Wintry Guardian is a trident that gives off a misty or foggy effect when used.

Darkpaw’s official statement is here and we’ll keep you updated on the camp’s progress and the arrival of the next Herald and Avatars.
