The key art for EverQuest II’s upcoming expansion has been released along with details of the expansion.

Scars of Destruction is EverQuest II’s 21st expansion. EverQuest II will celebrate its 20th anniversary on November 8, 2024.

EverQuest II : Scars of Destruction Key Art

Created by Kerem Beyit, the artwork is a stunning visual of various dragons in a frozen scene in the lands of Norrath.

Beyit has been the artist for EQ and EQ2’s key art, since the Rain of Fear expansion in EQ, and has also done work for Pathfinder, Dungeons and Dragons and World of Warcraft.

The key art for Scars of Destruction shows a snowy wasteland, assumed to be Velious, with a large figure in the foreground.

Lucan D’Lere is assume to be a pivotal figure in the expansion, and is listed as the antagonist in the description for the expansion.

Artisans and adventurers, heed the call of the Open Hand. They are counting on your significant skill and exceptional experience to survive the deadly journey into the depths of the Sodden Archipelago! Bands of Ulteran magic dance through the air, and the skies roil with storms while the local residents, including kappa and Mandoko, fiercely defend their shrinking lands from the growing legion of Blackhook Raiders. Only then will we have the tools necessary to enter the revered lands raked by Veeshan’s claw – the Western Wastes! Here, she had left her mark, and here her children have lived and died since the Age of Scale. And it is here where we will have to face ageless denizens within the draconic crypts and bone-chewing vermin as we race against an unnatural army led by the Overlord of Freeport, Lucan D’Lere! Plans will be derailed, repercussions will be felt, years of work will finally come to fruition, and enemies long lost to history will be brought forth, all within the Scars of Destruction!

Zones in Scars of Destruction

More details on the expansion have been announced, including the zones for the expansion:

Western Wastes

A frozen, fractured land scarred by Veeshan. The tundra is barren, and undead curses linger. Draconic magic melts permafrost, splitting the landscape into shattered ice and water.

Dragon Necropolis

The Dragon Necropolis is a crumbling tomb of draconic relics, overrun by the Chetari. Players face dangers like Zlandicar and the clockwork dragon, Lady Karkona, who seeks to resurrect her mate, Ulvaxazoviak. As Lucan searches for the golden dragon claw, players must decide whether to give it to him to stop a greater threat tied to the Void.

Sodden Archipelago

The Barren Coast, once a quiet beach on Odus, was transformed by magical upheavals and cataclysms. Now, the region is a tropical archipelago, born from shattered landmasses. Mangrove swamps, orc hideouts, and remnants of a lost continent are all that remain of this once barren shore.

Blackhook Spiral

The northern remains of the continent, now claimed by the Blackhook Raiders, feature towering mountains, jungles, and islands. Hidden within harsh orcish fortifications lies a secret—an orc leader possessed by Tarinax seeks to reconnect with the Void, using the region’s weakened veil as a gateway.
