The Year of Darkpaw continues for both EverQuest and EverQuest 2. And there’s a lot of news to round up in this update…Let’s start with what you can do for in-game for the Year of Darkpaw.

Year of Darkpaw – January – EverQuest

In EQ, Your first stop should be the marketplace, where you can get your free Orc metamorph wand, as well as a complimentary bottle of adventure.

Then pop over to Blackburrow to grab the Year of Darkpaw collections with the special 25th anniversary shinies.

Starting next week, on January 17th, the anniversary tower becomes available, with 11 floors that will unlock over time. The Tower Trial quests will reward you with your special Timeless Tokens currency which will later be used at the special merchant.

Year of Darkpaw – January – EverQuest II

In EQ2, you should also check the marketplace for your free pet, , Maximbert the Feisty, as well as a free White Lacquer Bedroom Furniture bundle.

That’s good news for those housing decorators out there, and there’s even more good news to share if you’re looking to spruce up your EQ2 home. Now through January 15th, there’s a 20% discount on all houses and housing items from the in-game marketplace.

Start collecting your Darkpaw Doubloons from doing various Daily missions from the Year of Darkpaw camp. 

There are Five collections using the Darkpaw shinies and Avatars of the Gods that you can challenge throughout the year. 

Two will appear at a time, with one arriving at the beginning of each month, and another at the end of the month.


EQ – Ask Me Anything

Also in Year of Darkpaw News, the EverQuest Team is hosting a Ask Me Anything and soliciting questions from the community. A post has been made in the EQ forums for your questions, and will be up through February 14th.

The questions and answers will be gathered and posted for players to read, and this could occur multiple times through the year, depending on the volume.

Music Now Streaming

The music of the latest expansions for both games is an overlooked, but highly enjoyable part of the experience and feel of the newest lands in Norrath.

Well, now you can enjoy those new tracks from your favorite music streaming services.

The music of Laurion’s Song and Night of Shadows for EverQuest, as well as Renewal  of Ro and Ballads of Zimara for EverQuest II are now available from Pandora, Spotify, iTune and Amazon Music.

Altogether, it’s nearly 45 minutes of EverQuest music and almost 40 minutes of EQ2 music, for your pleasure.

You can add those songs to the original soundtracks for EQ and EQ2 that have also been available for several years now from the same music services.

There’s also the acapella EverQquest music performed by the Encore Vocal Ensemble from the 21st anniversary.

Additional Events

There are still some in-game events happening, including the New Year’s Events in EverQuest which will continue until January 21st. 

And for the raiders out there, Laurion’s Song Tier 1 raids opened this past Saturday.

Server Unlocks

For TLP players, some big server unlocks have happened in the past week or so.

On January 4th, Aradune and Rizlona unlocked the Rain of Fear expansions.

Yelinak unlocked Prophecy of Ro, and the Oakwynd server is now experiencing content in the Planes of Power and Legacy of Ykesha.
