The gods of Norrath have appeared in EverQuest since the early days of the game.

Innoruuk and Cazic-Thule were the first to appear in the game, in the early raids of Plane of Hate and Plane of Fear.

Innoruuk, appearing here in Nadox, but was first seen in the original Plane of Hate

By the time The Scars of Velious came around, Tunare made an appearance in the Plane of Growth.

The gods became the primary focus of the Planes of Power expansion, in which most of the pantheon was in the crosshairs of many a guild looking to pilfer the planes in their quest for phat lewtz.

Well, 32 expansions in, and some of the gods of Norrath are getting a major upgrade.

In the Shattering of Ro expansion, several of the key gods in the expansion are getting the modern day treatment.

Shattering of Ro key art

On the key art for the upcoming expansion, the gods Solusek Ro, Tunare, Rallos Zek and Mithaniel Marr all appear, locked in a battle after Druzzil Ro is murdered in the Plane of Magic.

In game, all of those gods will be sporting the newest latest model, save Rallos Zek, which recently got a high res upgrade in Torment of Velious, the 26th expansion for EverQuest.

Tunare

The goddess of Nature first appeared as concept art, drawn by Rick Schmitz, in the early manuals with the original game.

Original Tunare concept art

By the 3rd expansion, Scars of Velious, we got to see her in game, and if you were a part of the raiders who killed anything that moved, you could make her a raid target.

The original Tunare model, was quite blocky, borrowing heavily from the high elf model, sporting a golden crown and a simple green dress and about the size of a player character.

Tunare’s original model, used briefly in the Shattering of Ro beta

The new model, appearing on the beta server in the upcoming Shattering of Ro expansion, gives Tunare a glow up, and a grow up.

The new model is about 3 times the size of her original model, and putting her at the same general size of all the gods now.

The high resolution model give incredible details in her crown, complete with verdant green jewels, flowing gold and green dress and golden shoes.

Mithaniel Marr

Mithaniel Marr first appeared in game in the Planes of Power, as a raid target in the Halls of Honor.

Mithaniel Marr’s original model was used briefly in beta.

He has since been referred to as Macho Man for his model’s common flex and animation that resembles the 80s wrestling legend.

The “Macho Man” Mithaniel Marr

Mithaniel Marr also gets the high resolution treatment, maintaining his previous height, but certainly getting some new details and a new animation.

Solusek Ro

One of the central figures to The Shattering of Ro is Solusek Ro.

His NPC model hasn’t been updated since The Planes of Power.

In Shattering of Ro, he gets an extremely detailed new NPC model, complete with a spinning spear move over the top of his head.

Druzzil Ro

While Druzzil Ro appeared in game during the Planes of Power expansion, and in a few additional instances since, her NPC model was never actually correct.

A standard female NPC model was used, since an actual specific Druzzil Ro NPC model was never created.

Finally, in 2025, Druzzil Ro will get a completely new NPC model, true to her original concept art.

Rallos Zek

Rallos Zek’s original model, appearing in the Planes of Power

Rallos Zek first appeared in Planes of Power, but as the central figure to Torment of Velious, he got a new NPC model carried over from EverQuest II.

The Torment of Velious key art

The new model is quite detailed, down to the lava veins underneath his outer helmet and armor.

Quellious

Quellious only recently has appeared in game, and the NPC model is pretty up-to-date by modern EverQuest NPC model resolution standards.

So for Shattering of Ro, while she appears in game, her model is not new for this expansion.

Brell Serilis

Brell doesn’t get a new NPC model for this expanson, but his model used since The Underfoot is still quite good.

Brell Serilis, appearing in Candlemaker’s Workshop, a zone in Shattering of Ro.

Brell will also appear in Shattering of Ro with his original and only NPC model.

Beta

The Shattering of Ro, EverQuest’s 32nd expansion, is currently in beta testing, but is expected to launch in December of 2025.

Firiona Vie also appears to have a new model, though she is unconscious in the Plane of Growth.
