Who doesn’t remember playing /gems?!? The Tetris-like game uses original EverQuest spell gems cascading downward with both positive and negative results.

Waiting on those Luclin spires to fire off? Why not /gems.

Waiting on that epic camp mob to spawn? Or just bored at your current camp while you wait on respawn. Well then /gems was the answer.

The game is still active inside EQ only.

A sequel to the original was conceived not long after the success of the original EverQuest became apparent.

EverQuest Next

Platform: PC / PS4 / ?
Game Type: MMORPG
Release Date: —
Status: CANCELED
Expansions: NONE

Where to begin.

An EverQuest “3” was teased for years, and work on the project had been started and scrapped at least three times when EverQuest Next was officially announced in 2012.

Excitement was furious as the players were given an inside look into the creation of the game, and even assisted in creating content for the game through its sister game: Landmark.

However, the ambitious project was scrapped in 2016 after the directon of the game was deemed “not fun” by leads at Daybreak Games.

Check out The Game Archaeologist’s article about the Rise and Fall of EverQuest Next and Landmark over on MassivelyOP.

Landmark

Platform: PC / PS4 / ?
Game Type: MMORPG
Release Date: —
Status: CANCELED
Expansions: NONE

After EverQuest Next’s announcement in 2012, players were asked to help create content for the game using developer tools.

Those developer tools were crafted into a game that looked to capitalize on the success of Minecraft.

Players could create content after collecting materials and build monuments of various themes and detail.

With the cancellation of EverQuest Next in 2016, Landmark’s future was questionable at minimum. The game was shut down in February of 2017.

Legends of Norrath

Platform: PC
Game Type: Trading Card Game
Release Date: Sep 5, 2007

Some of the most beautiful artwork in the EverQuest universe is thanks to Legends of Norrath, EverQuest’s entry into the digital Trading Card Game category.

The digital cards found inside the online game decks took the lore, creatures, weaponry and locations of the EverQuest universe and created a vast library or art and imagery.

The game was initially only available inside EQ and EQ2, but eventually it came with it’s own stand along client.

It has been heralded as a very well-produced TCG by itself, but many of the MMO players enjoyed the Loot Cards found inside the digital booster packs.

The game has been sunset and is no longer playable.

A hack and slash action RPG for the PlayStation that just happens to be set in the EverQuest universe. That’s the simplest way to describe Champions of Norrath.

Some players may not have even know the connection to the original EverQuest game. And that’s ok.

The game itself did pretty well, receiving favorable reviews and selling well enough that a sequal was created.

The game was only playable on PlayStation 2 in an online capacity.

EverQuest Worlds

Platform: Android/iOS
Game Type: EQ Franchise App
Release Date: Aug 19, 2013
Status: INACTIVE
Expansions: 0

To accompany the development frenzy around EverQuest Next, and tier the EverQuest franchise together, the EverQuest Worlds app was released.

For EQ fans, this had everything you could want: : Access to exclusive content regarding the development and lore of EQ Next, rewards in EQ and EQ2 and mini games that keep you occupied for hours, all set in the EQ universe.

There were several mini-games within the app, and many were decent games that I still wish I could play even now.

Unfortunately, the plug on EverQuest Worlds was pulled on March 31, 2016, just after the announcement of EQ Next’s cancelation.

EverQuest World Mini Games

Book of Magic

A “process of elimination” type game using colored gems contained within EverQuest Worlds. Think of it like a colorful Sodoku.

EQ Franchise Trivia

Mineral Match

A Candy Crush type game within the EverQuest World’s app.

Defenders of Norrath

One of my favorite mini-games in the EverQuest Worlds app. waves of gnolls, skeletons and more attack the walls of Qeynos.

Basic castle-defense against the clock and ever increasing numbers and speed of enemies. But great fun.

EverGuess

Inside the EverQuest Worlds app was the word scramble puzzle game, EverGuess.

Pretty simple. EverQuest locations, names and words that are all mixed up.

Hero of Kelethin

An additional mini-game added later to the EverQuest Worlds app was Hero of Kelethin.

What newb hasn’t fallen from the tree city of Kelethin? In this game you use the huts of Kelethin to save falling characters from their death.
